About MHSA

Proposition 63 was passed by voters in November 2004 and became a state law called the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA). Effective January 1, 2005, MHSA has provided funding to counties in California to expand and develop mental health services for children, transition age youth, adults and older adults. In San Diego County this includes funding for many local public mental health programs, prevention and early intervention initiatives, as well as housing and workforce education and training initiatives.
